One of the most remarkable facts about Ibiza is that it stays green all through the year, mainly because of the vast number of Carob trees and Pine trees.

The Carob tree is fairly representative for the island of Ibiza and the local market is trying it’s best to revitalize carob production by making good use of the magnificent carob syrup. Many people use carob syrup in a variety of products because of it’s healthy nutrients like potassium, iron, calcium and many of the vitamins the human body requires daily.

The carob fruit consists of bean-like seeds and a sweet pulp which tastes like chocolate, with it’s sugar content rising above 50%. The calories intake of Carob pods are 1/3 less than chocolate and almost fat-free, making it a great substitute for people wanting to lose some weight. Further more, it’s a non-allergenic product!

Aspiring to a healthier way of life, both locals and tourist try to introduce the carob fruit into their diet, while the island’s industry uses the gum in the seeds in many food manufacturing processes as well as in the production of adhesive.
